Congratulations I suppose but when he burst on the scene he looked being a test bowler not the international version of Tymal Mills.

Yes, I hope he's not just going to be 12mn or drinks carrier. Wish him well.

With Willey in the squad it is unlikely that Topley will play ahead of him as Willey can smash it. So unless they are going to play two left armers, again unlikely, it is looking like he won't make the final 11. Although any time spent with the England coaches will do him the world of good.

And a great opportunity for being 'tapped up' I fear.

I imagine someone will be advising Topley to join a division 1 county to further his international ambitions - just as Willey has.

Mm, not sure about the England coaching set up. They've not had a good record over the years of helping young bowlers. The likes of Anderson learned to ignore them, whilst note Finn worked with the likes of Fraser.

Being around the international set up should give toppers an insight into the lifestyle, the demands of the international game as well as the politics.

It's always good when an Essex player gets a call up, unfortunately as others have mentioned, this will probably lead to him leaving for pastures new and first Division cricket.  Stab in the dark and i reckon he'll end up at Warwickshire.

That wasn't the current set up though was it? Ottis Gibson is renowned as one of the best bowling coaches in the World.

The big rumour is Hampshire.  Not heard anything about any other team.

I hope you're right. Although Gibson has been and gone before.

So much for he and his father's div. 1 aspirations, because Hampshire are a slam dunk for div. 2 cricket next season. It does however configure in the context of Hampshire, like Essex, being a  predominantly limited overs orientated club, particularly in the vein that his fitness problems are likely to restrict his cricketing career to circa 40-50 overs of containing bowling per season.
