Not sure Quincy is unhappy with their 'criticality' - they tend to err on the other side. However, yes it isn't easy to commentate on CC matches unless we are batting on the first morning because play unfolds over quite a long period of time.

Don't forget TMS have more commentators, they tend to rotate their overseas - indeed the BBC Essex commentary is generally better when they have AN Other from the other county Ernie Bevan from Glammy (?!?) etc. In this way we get more insights about the opposition's form as well as the impression they have of our team. Perhaps being together as regularly as Nick, Dick, David & Paul are it must be difficult to think of fresh things to say when the over rate slackens.

I fear that there are those who'd prefer to get rid of this coverage and spend it on minor celebs presenting drivel or yet another blasted country music programme...

Listening today at work before attending tomorrow.  The BBC team are very critical of both us and Kent for putting Australia in on a batting friendly wicket, saying we've done it just to ensure a fourth day.  Also critical of us resting Napier and Masters.

It was pre-agreed, apparently, in both cases.

They've been very critical of both counties and the ECB, Adam Gilchrist is one of co-commentators and he was saying how Sheffield Shield teams would do all they can to beat visiting countries regardless and mentioned a team beating India in 2 days.  It was mentioned that in this country we love the visiting sides playing our county sides and just let them enjoy the games rather than trying to beat them.

Yorks might be able to give the Aussies a game but realistically who else could?

This is why I wouldn't be against us brining in the likes of Liam Dawson to even things up a bit.

Isn't it ironic that the much maligned Tom Moore is the most successful bowler thus far???

Obviously wasn't at Chelmsford in 2003, then!

There is a difference in pre-agreeing to let them bat first if that is what they wish to do, I imagine their plan would be to bat once and bowl the opposition out twice to give their attack some practice, and actually trying to beat them once the game is underway.

Teams accommodated all sorts of strange requests when England toured under Duncan Fletcher.

Indeed? I always thought DF was a dour guy - did he secretly supply coke to Dazzler Gough and sanatogen to Andy Caddick?

That wasn't Adam Gilchrist - that was another Adam from Australia. Probably could've destroyed our attack today.

I reckon he demanded Biltong be flown in for the South African contingent.

Isn't that dried beef? Or is it 'Special Stuff'?

At present I am getting no on line coverage, although I can listen to other games.

I was not planning to visit the ground for this match. I could do so later today to discuss this latest technical breakdown. Of course I will not appreciate who else will be listening to the conversation or whether my language should be moderated.

By the way some of the commentary is childish and unprofessional.

Since writing the above the on line commentary has started working.

That showed them, or did it.

Be thankful for small mercies then.

The on line service has gone down again after tea.

There is the thought that a large number of people at the BBC will be getting the golden order of the boot in the near future to make you feel better.
