What I don't get is, why did Porter and Westley play yesterday and do well and then are left out of a failing squad?

Maybe just to give them something to do while waiting for the next Championship round?

Agreed. JP bowled excellently. Westley batted ok.

Sign of a regime who haven't a clue?

Odd given previous success at the club, but no bowling coach still, odd selection , (no thain in his best format, yet playing in his weaker one as a 4th seamer) and terrible results, many due to attitude/decisions rather than ability/talent.

Who knows.

Edit to add a regime who apparently is interested in Bashir. If that's doesn't sum up the jumping of the shark by the club I don't know what does. Crazy  unless harmer and critchley are leaving

Cox is back, Das and Thain are already in the squad and so would be ahead of Westley in the pecking order.   Porter may well play when Cook goes off to England.

Siddle is bowling coach on a short term contract. Porter and Westley were playing against  2nd eleven  players, so difficult  to judge. Porter has rarely  been effective in T20 in previous years, but we don't  have much else. The seconds lost yesterday at Southend.

The Glamorgan commentators, in the previous game. Mentioned, a few times, the unhappy body language of some of the Essex fielders.

Been saying it all season in the 4 day game. Even at Trent bridge when we had various spells on top and in seasons past would have forced a win with the same players

I thought that the way Glamorgan were pacing their innings, without taking any big risks. Essex had given up and were accepting the inevitable.

Of course an Essex bowler, could have done a Pat Pocock and taken seven wickets in 11 balls. With a run out for another wicket as well.

Essex win the toss and put Glamorgan in. Cox comes in for Allison.

Rossington, Elgar, Pepper, Cox, Walter, Critchley, Benkenstein, Harmer, Snater, Amir, Cook

I have found a stream. It is very popular in the subcontinent, going by the chat.

Ball hit straight up in the air and three Essex fielders, shout yours.
