Hayes Close End
« on: April 15, 2014, 11:52:12 AM »
Attended yesterday for the first time this season. Significant changes to the HCE which are generally good except for the loss of some of the trees, less shade!

Are there any plans for tiered seating at the HCE? There seems to be sufficient room now albeit the new sightscreen arrangement might be problematic.

On my visit-Sunday, I too noticed the loss of the mature trees formerly in front of the new, utilitarian block of flats at the Hays Close end. I cannot recall if the trees were within ECCC's domain or outside?

If those trees were within the Clubs' property then perhaps they could enlighten us why they have seen fit to cull them?
As if the Club are not content significantly increasing the risk of flooding to Chelmsford by their vanity project to erect a wall of poorly designed tower blocks.
Personally, I think the Hays Close end would befit a grass bank, like the north end at Hove, providing something different and a change of focus to soften up the mundanity and poorly designed/appointed County Ground.

The problem with doing anything at that end is that Sky need space there for TV matches I would guess.

It only requires some imagination and innovation - (clearly attributes No Change Essex lack).
For example, if the utilitarian housing block is constructed behind the spectator accommodation at the River End - provide broadcast facilities for media providers within that - including the main commentary point. If that were delivered then all S*Y would require would be a single scaffold at the opposite Hays Close end, taking up minimal space - unlike the annual shanty town of plastic sheeting, scaffolding, ladders and heaven knows what else sited at Hays Close each season, then lazily left in situ until the season is over, long after the final TV game is broadcast.

Brilliant description.

It does look like something a tramp knocked up at short notice.
