Perfect day for England, stuck to their task through the second session all the made easier with three wickets before lunch and later  did not need the insurance of the second new ball.

Terrific performance. I thought we'd left the declaration a bit late, but all's well that ends well

It is difficult to get through a decent top order once the ball goes soft. To bowl the Windies out in two sessions was good.

The need for real pace and quality spinner who turn suggests changes for Thursday. Leach in for Ness, Archer in for Curran?

Ness? Would that be Eliott Ness?

We should play both spinners. Remember 1956.

Id play Parkinson.  I have a worry that we will lose him to white ball cricket

I do, but what happened, cricket-wise. Must admit at the time I was more interested in closely associating with young ladies that the details of cricket. IIRC I spent the summer holidays selling candy-floss and toffee apples on Southend Sea Front.

I might have bought a candy-floss from you, squareleg, although not quite old enough to qualify as a young lady at that time!

Agreed.
Bess was disappointing with the ball - he batted well -  so there's a strong case for bringing in Leach, or maybe even Moeen. I don't think the sectors would risk Parkinson as sole front-line spinner at the moment. The only way I could see us playing 2 spinners is one of them being an all-rounder, i.e. Mo, replacing Ollie Pope. Although young Ollie's done sod all wit the bat this series, I'd keep him in, he's got great potential, so for me, one spinner it is.

Archer has got to come in, presumably for Woakes or Curran. Both bowled well and would be entitled to feel a bit miffed at being dropped, but needs must. On balance I'd keep Woakes & drop Curran, although I like the left-arm variety the latter provides.

I think Pope will get in next time on the strength of his fielding. Isn't it a good feeling, though, to have all these quality options. Now if only we could find a reliable opening partnership, although both Sibley and Burns have done well at times. I'd drop Buttler for Foakes, though.

Remember 1976 and go with Archer and Wood?  Outpace the Windies. If he brings a knife to a party you bring a gun...

Going with the current trend the John Wisden Trophy played for by both countries is to be retired and replaced by Sir Ian Botham and Sir Viv Richards Trophy .
