Hampshire Squad
« on: July 31, 2019, 04:30:19 PM »
Squad

Simon Harmer (11) (Captain)
Mohammad Amir (5)
Aaron Beard (14)
Sam Cook (16)
Cameron Delport (89)
Dan Lawrence (28)
Matt Quinn (94)
Shane Snater (29)
Ryan ten Doeschate (27)
Paul Walter (22)
Tom Westley (21)
Adam Wheater (31) (Wicket-keeper)
Adam Zampa (88)

No Chopra or Bopara.  They don't bother saying whether they are injured or not.  They haven't bothered to replace them with any batsmen so we're back to Harmer at 7 again.  It's an absolute joke.  We really are clueless when it comes to this.

I guess it will be something like
Delport
Wheater
Westley
tendo
Lawrence
Walter
Harmer
Snater
Amir
Zampa
Cook

Wheater has barely made a run all season and Walter has never done much for the first team with the bat.

Bopara played (and got runs and wickets) for the seconds on Monday.  Walter also got runs.  harsh to criticise him in one day cricket for his batting, not had much of a run batting in the first team.

I'm not that critical of him.  I just think if you're going to have Harmer at 7 then the 6 in front of him have to be very good and they're not.  Walter at 7 and not being counted on to bowl 4 overs every game would be a decent enough pick.

The squad doesn't bode well for tomorrow, it looks fairly weak, we shall see, if a couple of batsmen click we have a chance, if not....

To be fair, that sums up out T20 chances overall and not just in this match, in a nutshell!

Roll on proper cricket again although I hope the club has some plans for Siddle’s replacement well under way!

Chopra is out of form, be it dropping Ravi is a strange one. Disciplinary or because he is going elsewhere soon?

Probably because they will both be off to play in the Scottish franchise and we are preparing to do without them.

Amir and Snater are both in the same tournament and they're both in the squad.

The Euroslam T20 nonsense doesn't start until the day of our last group game.
