Essex supporters may be interested to learn that there are due to be two books published about former Essex players this year. Von Krumm are bringing out, hopefully in May, Robin Hobbs's autobiography which is long overdue and should be fascinating. In October Hodder & Stoughton will issue Derek Pringles' tome which may be more esoteric in nature.
I have always thought well of Alistair Cook, that unlike his predecessors as England captain he has not rushed to print at every opportunity. To date he has only one book to his name, very early in his test career. Therefore should he produce a final autobiography he should have much to comment on. By contrast Andrew Strauss and Michael Vaughan both published three books on their careers and our own Graham Gooch had numerous efforts.
