The 100 - the logic of the madhouse?
« on: September 19, 2019, 05:33:08 PM »
I'd really like to put my name forward for a 100 franchise as a 'non-playing player':

One or more men's Test players may be appointed as a 'non-playing player' for The Hundred, seemingly at the ECB's discretion. They will be used in promotional material, but will not train or play.

Excellent opportunities for Reece Topley, Tymal Mills and Matt Coles?

'Non-playing player' is as much a contradiction as using the words 'The Hundred' and 'cricket' in the same sentence.

I thought that the idea of a non playing player was someone who was mainly involved with coaching and management, not going around meeting and greeting.

I could do that for a free hot dinner.

I have just read a good line on the Grockles Forum. "You are now forbidden to call next year 2020. It will be known as the year 100."

In this fast moving new format I note, that during play,  the coach can go out to the middle and talk to his team.  Very odd.

I see The Hundred is now in trouble over sponsorship by sugary snacks.

It was all going so well; you can see why Yorkshire are in bother if Graves is applying his management skills to this.

Apparently Morgan has said '18 Counties going for a length of time doesn't really make sense', that's because it is a League, if he feels that way then why does he ever bother turning out for Middlesex at all? What a complete waste of space he is, but what do you expect from an ECB mouthpiece who only has his own interests at heart & doesn't care about the wider game, who also should only be playing for Ireland.

Captain Morgan would bring his own hood to a KKK meeting if he thought it would give him a contract.

The selection is now live on Sky, what a complete load of utter tosh, I find the monetary value element somewhat distasteful - surely players could have been seeded instead.

I'm still available.  I could qualify under the 'useless tw@t' pay band. Oh, and I see Tymal and Reece have been picked up...

When is the spectator draft? I'm wondering how much money I'd need to be offered to go to a match ...
