Century for Velani.  Mickleburgh single figures again.  It will be interesting to see who come's into the team when Cook leaves after the next game.  I suspect maybe they will play Zaidi at 8 and move Lawrence up to open but if they don't want the spinner perhaps Velani may play.

JM has burgled a career out of cricket. Looks like the final final huraah for him.

See that Dixon got panned again.

You're probably right.  I still think he'd do ok in the middle order at 5 or 6.
The first time he played in a 4 day game at Chelmsford against Warwickshire he batted at 5 and scored 72 off 79 balls.  He was very aggressive and played very well.  They then moved him up the order and it didn't help him at all I don't think.  It wouldn't surprise me if he went elsewhere and did ok.

I remember Jaik's debut well - he looked really good in that 72, I too am not convinced he is an opener, he struggles to get the ball off the square quite often, he looks an attractive batsman with all the shots but without the weight of runs !!
Worth a try at 5/6 with Daniel Lawrence opening - BTW Lawrence impresses me as a fielder, very good at Short Leg, quick in the deep with a decent throw as well.

Lawrence is being 'groomed' (in the traditional sense) as a Keeper.
