Mog, you seem to forget one thing. The owners are in such a tissy to demonstrate 'legacy' they (or is it the local taxpayer?) would probably pay most of the costs. Of course, there's still the potential for another Sugababes reunion.  :-* :-* :-*

Mog - having a bad day?

A few pre-London Marathon nerves perhaps, the day was good - Sunday even better. Thanks  ;)

That tells us that msrs; Gooch, Cook and the the 'great' Irani are in favour - what a revelation! As they are either employed by or ex-players of ECCC, they would be, wouldn't they?!
It also tells us that the article author; Liam Morgan (a junior reporter) has been to the Sunday Times paywall for his info. Most of this is assumption, or 'according to Derek Bowden'. Again, after his lacklustre track-record to date, DB is trying to justify his inflated salary.

As I stated, the reality is that the Club will have to fund the venue hire, and associated costs, minus the drop-in pitch. In my humble opinion they will not pull it off - it's economically unviable without a whacking big subsidy which Essex will not be beneficiaries of.

I disagree. I don't like the idea but I'm sure it will be profitable.
