I must attend the AGM and members forums more often. As they can be an source of comedy.

People must remember the man who rolled his empty glass along the floor and out the door with him running after it before it broke.

Also there was someone who got upset on Ronnie Irani's behalf about criticism. I was going to ask the question. When are you and Ronnie Irani going to announce your engagement?

Saying Ground Redevelopment must be guaranteed a laugh.

I went. Not the most exciting event. Lots of congrats to Doug Insole on being re-elected President, and on (almost) being 90. Short spat over the Committee elections; for some reason "they" didn't want to give out the votes of the defeated candidates..... the old reason; it'll cause embarrassment to the defeated! Apparently Wilson was pretty close to being elected, Daren and Brian quite a long way off. Turnout was a bit up on the last time there was an election.

Treasurer thought that while 2015 had, financially, been OK, this was largely due to the Aussie game and this wouldn't be repeated for a while. Club needs more money to keep good players; really doesn't want to decline into a feeder club. Need csh from OS venture IF it works.

Development is being prceeded with cautiously. Looks like our partners aren't quite the massive organisation they once were. One member drew comparison with how Kent had carried out their ground development and said we were doing it better.

Aim is still promotion, and at least some one-day silverware.

When the question of embarrassing the unsuccessful candidates at the AGM was raised in the past. A member stated that he had stood in local elections for the Liberal Democrats and knew what it was like to be embarrassed by a lack of votes. In his view it was not a problem.

I was once on the committee of a club, not cricket and at AGM time I was unopposed. There were two young idiots standing and I said that I would support them so that I could get what I wanted out of them. When the votes were counted I saw that they were not made public as it was clear the only votes they got were from themselves.

Also in that club one of members early in the AGM would get upset about something and walk out. One year it was the lady at the tea bar rattling the tea cups. I suggested at a committee meeting that we made his walk out item two on the AGM agenda.

if you're a member who joins well before the season. If you join when you attend pre season friendlies you could be a member for fifty years and never have a vote.

Well I tried, but failed to get elected. I failed quite miserably actually, only three votes from coming last, I was informed. But there you go, democracy in action; the club's members have voted and decided to keep faith in the existing committee. Many thanks to everyone who voted for me and those who voiced their support on this forum.

Thanks Daren. You did indeed try, and shouldn't give up.

I'm intrigued as to how our development is being better handled than Kent.

Kent members have got revamped facilities including a bar that was the old scoreboard.

Essex members on the other hand have got a view of some flats that no-one wants to buy.

That'snot true and you damage the credibility of your wider argument by continuing to suggest so. The level of debate on the re-development needs to improve.

Don't give up Daren - some of the dead wood has to go soon as they'll get to 70.
