Another thing I've noticed in the latest bumph (Membership Guide) by post from ECCC is "the announcement of Greene King as the Club's Brewery Partner this year". The Kent are lot are still on the website as "Club Sponsors" though although not on the front of the bumph, the Suffolk lot are instead.

Not being an expert in these matters, is this a change for the good?

Isn't Greene King the new ECB sponsor?

Personally I'd plump for Adnam's if we're going for a brewery closer to home.

Greene King - big nasty pubco.

Adnams - local-ish small nice brewer.

Not slanting it in any way of course.

Once had a pint of green ale called Spring is Sprung ! A wander up to the Ale house lunchtime still looks more appealing than the GK fare .

Greene King may be a "big nasty pubco" but a pint of Abbot's takes some beating. And for a session beer, IPA's pretty good too.

It's a step up from Shepherd Neame admittedly.

You're not a "valued partner" anymore!  ;)

The IPA wasn’t too good yesterday. And 40p per pint more than at muy local, too!

New character in the pavilion certainly likes the refreshment, never seen without a plastic pint glass. Don't think they feel safe giving him a glass one !

Tried the IPA and Golden Hen . To be fair both were okay.

There was some guy going round on Sunday talking to beer drinkers. He reckons they will be rotating the ales and will be having  guest beers.

On the minus side the prices are up 10 - 20p.

Good news for "spoon" lovers - Essex members are getting 20% off food and 50p off drink in the Ivory Peg.
There is also members discount in the Fleece and the Cricketers, but sadly nothing in the Ale House.

Nothing in the Orange Tree though?
