It sent him into a very bad depressive state mentally.  Hopefully he's over that.

I was in a very bad depressive state when he flogged our bowling at Colchester.

Time may heal but the mental scars remain.  ;)
That sounds like a dig at Tresco which if it is is in poor taste, both my wife & daughter suffer from different forms of depression & it isn't funny for them or myself & my son, FWIW I saw that double ton by Tresco & it was superb with only Masters & incredibly Matt Walker of the bowlers commanding respect.

Not the kind of thing to joke about!! I bet you would have objected if I had said something similar?
Anyway that should be an end to it.

........"Agree with all that.  I actually really like Hales BUT his progress has stalled dramatically - he's gone no where in the county championship yet is suddenly opening in a test match".........

DT, you say he (HALES ) has gone nowhere in the CC. However on the radio this morning, they were saying his stats for the last 2 years were 49 and 51 (very, very good) and especially coming from a lowly13. Now, i wonder who is right, you or them ? Please check and come back........

I am sure you will all agree that Hales is looking rather good in the current test match vs So. Africa, with Cook out to an outstanding catch.

Indeed they're right, had no idea his stats were that good - seemed to get low scores every time I checked!!!  That said, only 8 scores of 50 or more in 20 inns is not a great conversion ratio is it...

Good to see him getting runs today but please bear in mind their two world class opening bowlers aren't playing...

DT, ok, thanks for the reply, perhaps best in future to check before going with gut feeling and getting it wrong. He can only bat to what is put before him.  He has faults, but he is an exciting prospect and a good foil to Cook. Time will tell if he succeeds, but playing on good test wickets should help him. He looks to be trying to leave a lot, which appears to be the way of a Test opener, that is apart from Warner, of course

I wish some of Essex's batsmen could get over 50 8 times in 20 innings!!
More to the point that some could get 50+ 8 times per season!!

DT, was it really laughable, my post on 02/01.16.  I did say that  "time will tel if he succeeds" Methinks you were itching to get back at me for pointing out to you an error in a previous post. i hope that you are not trying to be a substitute for a poster from the past.  I think you favour Nick Browne, being biased , i do too, but remember, we are playing in div.2 , against  so called weaker bowling.
