Comedy Nights at the ECG
« on: November 16, 2015, 11:21:49 AM »
I did have to laugh when I read this on the latest "Beyond the Boundary" email. Cue all the usual wags with lines such as "we have seen plenty of those down the years!!!!". (The T20 vs Middlesex last year gets my vote.) But seriously, good to see the club trying new things to raise a bit of extra revenue over the winter.

I take it Nigel "Winning is overrated" Hilliard is booked to appear with his tried & tested rib ticklers?

Maybe we could even tempt Paul "You can't win Division 1 from Division 2" Grayson down from the northern club circuit for the night?

Maybe VP could be tempted to do an evening of his best Grayson 'gags'?

Not as (unintentionally) funny as the real thing.

Comedy nights are coming to the Essex County Ground! We will be hosting two nights of laughter at the ground for you to enjoy. These will take place on Friday 5 February 2016, and Friday 1 April, both beginning at 6:30pm.

We will announce the three comedians in due course.

The package includes a one course meal, waitress service for your drinks, access to a pay bar facility, and of course a night of top class comedy. All this is available for just £25!

Call 01245 254001 to book, or email commercial@essexcricket.org.uk.

Presumably since the restraining order was lifted...  ;)

I'll have you know I only slagged him off once to his face.

Admirable restraint in the circumstances.  ;D

There was a Englishman, Scotsman, Irishman, South African, Australia and a few other nationalities as well. They all signed contracts with other Counties and Essex CCC said that there was no one available.

Good job Fri 5th Feb & Fri 1st April (All Fools Day!!) are not during the cricket season, if they were the Comedy nights would need to be staged after the T20 had finished.

I went along to the Comedy Night this evening. A really good event, so well done to all who organised it. Three very good comics, a lively compete who reenacted a scene from "Dirty Dancing" with a snake-hipped Danny Macklin?!??  The next one is on April 1st and I urge everyone to try and get there and support a good initiative.

Surely the police should've been informed?
