Page 4/5 of members magazine (the final one incidentally due to gross mismanagement and David East ego project), pass the sick bucket, as the saying goes "if you must piss on me don't tell me it smells of roses"

Now... I'm no apologist for the club but ... read carefully ...
...
there will still be a magazine but it won't be published on parchment, bits of tree or slate. We now have something called the Internet, something quite novel called E-mail and some magic called electricity.

yea and if you use language carefully you can spin anything, modernising the tax office by closing it, coming up with radical new solutions to mental health treatment by telling very ill people to chat amongst themselves in a coffee shop, its called semantics and duplicity. Do you know how many people aren't on the internet ?

The option of a print one will still be available, as I understand it. And, just for the record I’m a member of a Group of senior citizens in Mid Essex, and we have a quarterly magazine. A couple of years ago we took the decision to do what Essex are doing; put the magazine on line but send it to anyone who still prefers print/hasn’t got the internet. IIRC we now post to only about 25% of our membership; everyone else has it by email, and it’s on our website.

I'd put it on the website and any member who wants a printed copy should simply ask for one. Good money saving move in my opinion and saves paper being wasted.

25% is still quite a sizable number isn't it ? Especially when the internet is portrayed as being universal. The Essex family ! Think they've been on Jeremy Kyle haven't they ? Why are Essex so cashed strapped anyway ? The ECB payment never goes down, T20 is an income they never had previously  and was sold as the games economic saviour  yet every year they talk about hard times, what's gone wrong !

What's gone wrong? Player wages, the number of contracted players has vastly increased and associated hangers on employed by clubs - ECCC in particular.

Depends on the total number doesn't it? If there are only 4 people then you are talking about 1 person.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere that it is not cost effective to put certain things in to print and post.

Good.

Hang on it might be worth reading next year now we're spared Larry's BS.

Although I suppose Irani will take up the slack.

The best thing about the yearbook in my opinion is the records section. Having been watching since 1972 I've witnessed quite a few county and personal records and flicking through them on a dark winter's evening is always a pleasure.

Lots of records in recent years.

Very few of the wanted variety.

surely 25% of any number is a quarter isn't it ? If the overall total is low that just shows how popular or otherwise the entire venture is (In this case ECCC) .

The point of “my” 25% was that to be a member of the group I was referring to one has to be at least 55, and vast majority are much older. (The percentage who want print is falling slowly as well) While Essex members are probably quite likely to belong to that age group (if the top of the Tom Pearce is any guide) that would still suggest that if the offer was made of print or email, the printing and postage cost wiould drop by a very significant percentage!

Not sure about the year book though; my camera manual is only available on line, and while I’ve downloaded it it’s quite a big file. (9.5MB as a pdf) and it’s not as easy to find ones way about in it on the computer. At least, I don’t find it so!
