With the exception of Captain Cook, looks like the England club is becoming exclusively a middle to northern county power base of players chosen .
So why are the southerner counties not producing there share of England test players ?

Increasingly players go west (literally) or even south to Hants further their international prospects. Of course, things might change if Bell goes and also if Ali fails as an opener. The selectors might get desperate and look to the South-East again.
