Club Website - Players
« on: June 06, 2015, 12:09:22 PM »
Danny, Have been looking at the "1st team squad" and "player stats" areas on the club website and it doesn't appear to have been updated for some considerable time.

No information on the young players who have played this year and the player stats page still has the profiles of the players that where released/retired in 2014.

Any Plans to update?

I wouldn't mind knowing who is in charge of updating the website - or is it split between different people? These days it is essential for everything on it not only to be up to date but also accurate

Wrong question: you should've asked why was Saj ever listed as a player.

Think they've still got Rainy Brown on there. Would anyone at the club have noticed this without it being brought up here? Pathetic, what other club would be so poor as to have such a uninformative and out of date site. Were the lab coats in research and development otherwise engaged trying to work out how to switch on the new scoreboard ? Reading our scorers defence of that shambolic farrago is a perfect illustration of everything that's wrong at Essex they genuinely believe they are doing a good job in learning about a new system on the hoof during the season resulting in yet another embarrassing mess played out in front of the paying customer.

Morning

I appreciate this is something that should be done by now. I and we run with a very small team and sometimes we have to compromise on tasks.

I will ensure this is looked at ASAP. As an indication of the work I and others put in I type this at 4am on a Sunday, a huge amount of work goes into this time of year to deliver on budgets and match day experience.

We are working behind the scenes on new content to improve the website design and most importantly richer content.

Thanks for your patience, Danny Macklin, commercial director

i appreciate your hard work Danny and I'm sure that I'm being naive bit do we need "a match day experience" . if that's a modern term for the basics like stewards, toilets, food, drink etc then yes that is essential bit I have the horrible feeling its more about mascot outfits and opera singers. The efforts of yourself and your team were wasted last week at the Chelmsford festival not just because of the weather but because the pleasure of watching county cricket has gone for so many people due to policies and mid management adopted by individuals, clubs and the ECB. Then we have the players and coaches, but let's not go there. Keeping going Danny, your efforts stand out amongst some less than impressive club employees.

Hasn't rustled up a ground sponsor though.

Unless he's hoping Ford have a change of heart.

I don't normally answer such comments. However...

We are currently marketing our ground naming rights, once a firmed up schedule is known for development the interest in this will increase. We will be seeking a partner for long term sponsorship of the ground

Firmed up schedule for development eh?

Looks like the Essex County Ground ad infinitum then.

I go back to when the club's backroom staff consisted merely of Major 'Topper' Brown, Jeanette Carmen and good old Tom Pinch (whose various roles included emptying the ' buckets') plus a whole host of well meaning volunteers assisting where they could. Things progressed to the more professional days of Peter Edwards and his hands own approach ( I was once told even stamps were kept under lock and key). OK I accept times change but compared to past times, Essex now employ an army of paid staff.

I appreciate Danny's efforts and dedication but if he is doing e mails at 4am then all I can say is that something is clearly wrong and in such circumstances in any organisation, one has too look at the top downwards
