Gloucestershire milestones and Adeel Malik

There were two career milestones, both involving 100 matches. Jesse Ryder did it in all first-class cricket and David Masters for Essex. For those of you who like to keep up with such things Adeel Malik was born on 17 October 1985 in Sialkot, Punjab, Pakistan and bats right-handed and bowls right-arm leg breaks. His first-class cricket has been played for Sialkot.

A long, long time ago.

Another milestone from this game is that it is Gloucs' first CC win in Essex since 1930. PG does seem to be collecting several unwanted records!

I thought it was the first win at Chelmsford since the 1930s. I have a recollection of a defeat at Colchester, maybe in the late 1990s?

A quick serach on cricket archive shows we have lost a lot of first class matches against Gloucester since then.  None at Chelmsford.  15 since 1930.  Including 1998 and 2000 at Colchester and 2007 and 2009 at Garon Park, Southend.

I remember one of the matches at Garons. On awful pitch Craig Spearman smashed it around a bit and Kirby and Lewis ripped through us.

I can remember clearly the defeats at Southend, in one of them Lewis & Kirby absolutely ran through us with 5 wickets apiece, Tony Palladino top scored!! In our 2nd innings we had something like 7 sessions to get the winning score & were bowled out with over 4 to go!!
Sounds familiar?

One of those awful pitches when the match ends mid-way through the third day.

You wouldn't get them at Chelmsford  ......... oh, wait a minute.
