300 and lost
« on: January 23, 2015, 11:41:28 AM »
An improvement or simply showing how thick England cricketers are?  Increasingly the England set up has gone from prima donnas with talent who were overloaded with county commitments (e.g. Bothm and Gower) to prima donnas without the talent who drift from series to series doing enough to keep a contract.

Poor batting near the end of the innings is a (particular) perenniel problem. Occured again today. Smith's innings is like so many of the best 1-day players, well thought through innings, able to keep jogging the score along whilst mindful of opportunities to hit out.

Tasmania has been shown to very flat in the Big Bash so it was not a surprise 300 was not enough.Last 10 over cost them and were probably 30/40 short.

Just think how many more England would have got had The Ego been batting for us!! How we need him!!
I thought 300 and lost referred to the Spartans in their famous battle in Greek mythology!!
... OK no more (attempts at ) humour from me then!!

i think we are always going to struggle against an on form aus team with gazillions of good fast bowlers.  The only chink in their armour is perhaps spin in the right conditions so having both moin and tredders playing probably wise.f I reckon an aus n.zealand final could be easily on the cards for the world cup!

Typical! No one remembers the hundreds of Thespians at Thermopylae - without their magnificent contribution of 'songs from the shows' and improvised vignettes the Spartans might have won.

After having watched the previous Hollywood retelling with Scottish ladyboys I'm beginning to think that KP missed his true vocation. With Piers Morgan as the duplicitous disfigured feak...

THIS IS SPARTA!

Thermoplyae Gates sounds like a South African cricketer.

We should send Larry to scout him.

With a one way ticket to Cape Town.
