Oops, wrong Giles. He wouldn't study at our place, maybe the next Vice Chancellor...

'posh but dim' Giles

That must make his sidekick Hilliard Lloyd Christmas.

"With the counties at grassroots level, they are often struggling financially and we need to start the model with a financially viable competition and work out from that.  Bransgrove said the Ageas Bowl, the home of Hampshire, would be one of the venues likely to hold the new tournament, but he was keen to stress that it would be a collective arrangement.

It's not about having an advantage over, say Leicestershire. It's about all the counties sharing in the wealth that a properly conducted T20 tournament would be able to achieve."

In my considered opinion, what an A-hole. Not only does his plan stink, but the pathetic attempt at a justification for screwing over the likes of Leics suggests that he once was a shop owner, but still is a mechant banker.

I'm waiting for an ex-ECCC player to come on here and justify the destruction of ECCC.

Even if ex-ECCC players are actively contributing to its destruction.

i think  the  hants  chappie  just  desperate  to fill  his stadium. he expects sussex (and maybe kent) to form a south coast / wessex team how exiting is southampton going to be? Brighton is much 'sexier ' and the quality is better to, rosebowl got rubbish public transport links compared to most clubs. The delusional franchise advocates think that people are go to travel out of county for evening games. basically they will find a reduction of 2/3rds to a 1/2 in revenue in the whole. the london clubs have no problem selling loads of tickets i went to lords and oval last year choc a block. having hants and durham as test venues silly idea they are too out of the way, now they struggle for money. cardiff is a good location for day games as it is only 2 hours from london as is trent bridge.

Hove is a real dump and The Bowl in a silly position geographically; neither should have Test Matches.

I like Hove, although admit it could do with a make over.  The Bowl is a decent ground but not great to get too when there is a big crowd and agree neither should have test matches.

Sorry, what do you like about Hove?

Parking is terrible, food awful (last I bought was mouldy and I took it back), atmosphere nil and Sussex play there! Arundel and the Saffrons are both much nicer.

Hove is better than Chelmsford I'd say.

Which is not saying much admittedly.

Hove as a cricket ground is fine, i've been there 3 or 4 times and always found it alright and we always have a good day out with the crowd i go down there with.

I do agree the Saffrons is better and i don't think there is a nicer ground than Arundel but you never mentioned them in the original post.

As a Essex supporter living in Hove, I would say the trouble with the Hove ground is that more and more of it is being turned into corporate entertainment only, leaving less and less space for the members and public.I Would agree about the poor catering.
personally I think Horsham is the best ground Sussex play at.

I mentioned Hove because of the post by Frank21 - I used to live in Hastings so went to Sussex grounds regularly.

I've been to well over 40 grounds where 1st class cricket is played so am in a good position to compare facilities.

I did not rate Horsham when I went there but it was some years back; it had few facilities then.
