Could somebody at the club please acknowledge that Essex have qualified for the second eleven championship by displaying news on the website. Further more, could news of a venue be posted as soon as a decision is made and if the match was to be played in Essex due to the unavailability of Grace Road could some effort be made to let people know and to make than feel welcome at the ground during the match.

Shame the news doesn't rate its own page, Leicestershire think their second eleven does but then again they are more successful .

Well I hope we don't put out a stronger 2XI side than 1XI ... wouldn't put it past PG.

Many congrats our twos!!!

Seems quite extraordinary that two weakish first class sides have two of the strongest 2nd XI sides - where is it going wrong??

Leics 2nd XI by the way have already won the 2nd XI t20 and are also in the final of the SET !!!

Not if you look at it from the view of why should the bigger counties worry about developing players of their own when they can cherry pick those that have been brought through by other counties.

The more surprising thing to me is that we have done it in a year with so many injuries to bowlers.  The guys that would normally have been in the second team have been needed for the first team.

Being cynical I could say that the better teams focus upon their 1st XI at the expense of the 2nd team. However, it is right to note how the need to blood so many young bowlers has not seemingly denigrated the 'stiffs' - hopefully it has given the former more incentive to improve.

spot on...

I truly feel sorry for Leicestershire...the amount of youngsters they lose is ridiculous.
