Worcester List A milestones

In the victory at Worcester Mark Pettini passed 3500 runs and James Foster reached 200 catches, both for Essex. The eighth wicket partnership of 97 unbroken between Leach and Choudhry was a new wicket record against Essex. It beat the previous best of 86 by David Hughes and Peter Lever for Lancashire at Leyton in 1973.

Thanks as always Brian.  Out of interest, what was the previous Worcestershire highest 8th wicket partnership against us in List A cricket??

DT. The previous 8th wicket record was 80 by Rodney Cass and John Inchmore for Worcestershire at Chelmsford in 1975.

I was there for that one. Worcs won by one wicket in a rain-affected JPL match. We'd looked like winning when they were 75-7 but that partnership changed the game.

The returning ex-ECCC player curse was already in operation back in the 1970s?

I remember there seemed a certain inevitability about it...

So was I(showing my age again!), that was in the days before D/L  method & reduced run chases always seemed to favour the chasing side as they could afford to take risks.
