Cox to play. If we win then likely to be another appointment with Chris Lynn.

I was having issues posting- Essex won the toss and put Surrey in. Cox and Thain in.

Walter, Pepper, Cox, Allison, Benkenstein, Critchley, Harmer, Thain, Snater, Cook, Bennett

Evans run out for 4 in the first over 6/1.

We need Cox to score 100, Topley to run in lame and Critchley to take a hat trick including Lawrence. Might stand a chance then.

124 needed to reach the quarter finals. I still think this is going to be a nervy chase, but that was terrific from all the Essex bowlers.

Star-studded Surrey bowled out for 123. Another excellent performance in the field, Critchley absolutely outstanding again.

Fantastic win and not nervy at all in the end. Well played Pepper.

Are Northants confirmed as the opponents in the quarter finals?

Surrey trounced by 8 wickets and we are through.

After the first couple of games, this year's Blast looked like being a repeat of last season's sorry campaign. Since then we've seen a huge improvement in performance, and a team that doesn't look that strong on paper has punched above its weight to get to the QFs. Even a few days ago, back to back wins against the top 2 sides felt unlikely, but they've won both of those games with plenty to spare. Whatever happens next in this comp... very well done to the boys.

Great team performance, with an outstanding display by all bowlers.
Fielding in the deep, especially the catching has been brilliant throughout.

Surrey presented their Superfan, with a Magnum of Champagne. What would the Essex one get. A bottle of light ale, if they were lucky.

Thanks Nat. Better than Northants I guess.
