No doubt about Stokes cricket abilities, question has be asked where is the next outstanding all rounder on the circuit ?
States he will return to play the county circuit with Durham, perhaps to the end of the season if they get promoted.

I'm going to buck the trend here and point out that in the last 50 years, only Brearley had a higher win percentage as England captain.
Worth remembering how bad things had become when he took over - they'd won just one out of the previous 17 Tests. After he took over they won 11 of the next 13. The early days of Bazball were wildly entertaining and mostly successful. The final day of the Edgbaston Test v India in 2022 (when England scored 378-3 to win) was one of the most incredible days of Test cricket I can remember.

Spirali, thanks for a bit of much-needed context after a dreadful end to Stokes' England career. Very sad.
It's also worth pointing out that a lot of Brearley's wins were against teams decimated by the Kerry Packer circus.
Key should be straight out of the door now. Would Nasser be interested?

Is it the case, as was said about Politics. That your career, always ends in failure.

He'd command respect- probably a lot more than Key does. I doubt he'd want to do it, but maybe he's up for the challenge? I can't see how it would work with McCullum still in place though, the same applies to Alec Stewart. But I don't think the ECB can afford to get rid of Baz, especially when he's white ball coach as well.

I hope that they make a better effort of offering the Captaincy. Than they did with Mike Brearley. Mike Brearley was phoned by the Chairman of Selectors. The call sounded as though, he was ringing from a telephone box and having difficulty in finding the coins to put in.

Nasser Hussain as Coach, would shake them up. When he was made England Captain. It was said, the same as Captain Mainwaring. He got his ambition, to be put in charge of a group of men. Just like Captain Mainwaring, he was given a bunch of idiots.
If you want a right piece of work then employ Nasser's brother as coach.

Mel? He earns a fortune in the City.

It is becoming more and more like a poor Korean drama where it would appear that Messers Key and Gould have been kidnapped by aliens and the Ginger messiah has returned to stick the knife into the ECB
