Much ado about nothing. They won the test and there's a gap before the next one. I think they're allowed to have a drink after the game. Not a great look from the Captain, but there's a lot of pearl clutching going on from the press.

When Brian Close, was sacked as England Captain. It was over, time-wasting in a championship game. When he was Yorkshire Captain. To ensure, the game ended in a draw. After Colin Cowdrey was named the Captain for the tour of the West Indies. The matter of Brian Close was to be debated on the BBC. Michael Parkinson, before his chat show, was pro Brian Close. Opposing was Peter West, who was around 4th choice. Due to others chickening out. Michael Parkinson, went into one. Blaming it on the old school tie and class war.

I was wondering who would be rested/ droped to accomodate Cox but that issue seems to have gone away.

Archer also recalled and likely to play has a bowler down rather than a batter.
Rew is already in the squad so why call up Cox ?

They like to have a spare batsman in the squad just in case. But I don't see why Cox can't just join the squad on Tuesday morning since he's unlikely to play. The second and third tests are close together, so I bet he's doing a lot of drinks carrying in the next week or so.

But if they're thinking of playing Ahmed at 7 instead of Stokes, then they have 2 spare batsmen.
