Middlesex CCC Board want to de-mutualise
« on: December 03, 2025, 03:47:42 PM »
Not a surprise. I hope their members reject it but I'm not hopeful.

This will be coming to Essex soon. I again hope our members see sense and reject it.

I think their situation is different in that they are just a tenant at Lord's. I thought this was an interesting point in the article:

"Middlesex stand to receive around UKP 24m from the sale of stakes in the eight Hundred teams earlier this year, but have to make a business case to access these funds. ECB guardrails mean it must be used for developing a ground, which they do not have, or paying down debt, which they also do not have. That money is also not enough to build an appropriate ground on its own. After years of loss-making, Middlesex?s finances have stabilised in recent years but only through brutal cost-cutting, which has come at a time of underperformance on the field."

As a number of homeless non league clubs have found. There are not many places, if any. To build a ground in Middlesex. If a site became available, it would be rather expensive.

Uxbridge CC is the hot favourite.

With copyright sales of the micro Lego Lords and 24m  grant funds, could relocate to the Nursery End .

There is an issue with The Nursery end. That, due to a big bungle when the MCC, signed an agreement with the Freeholder of the ground, including the Railway tunnel beneath Lords. The MCC are limited in what they can do.

Lanky have invested in a nice ground out Leyland way to pick up the true Lancashire catchment area.  Not sure why though as no one lives out there. I worry whether they might move from Old Trafford or make the mistake that certain universities have done by investing in new campuses without a proper plan to make money.
