No vote has been scheduled as yet but we were told we favour retaining 14 CC games as now or 14 games with 8/10 split.

I've read a slightly different interpretation. The club are 'minded' to support 14 CC games but will continue to consult (whatever that means). And the Chairman was miffed about the 250 signatures for an SGM.

That's not what was said. They said they replied to the ECB that Essex supported 14 CC games either as now or 8/10 split.

The actual vote is later and cosultation is still taking place. Yes they were miffed a non-member handed it in - that's all. They will hold an SGM in about 4 to 6 weeks.

Were you actually in the webinar?

I also thought the Chairman stated that in relation to the County Championship Essex are in favour of ECB Option A which maintains 14 matches.

Yes - either the status quo or option A - that was clarified by someone asking for confirmation that the status quo was an option.

I thought the chairman's churlish dig about Alan Higham not being a member was pathetic. Does that undermine the legitimacy of the petition and the 250 members who signed it? I've asked this question before with no answer. Who elected this chairman? Certainly not through the votes of the membership as I recall it. Wasn't he just imposed as a result of the Faragher farrago as a safe legal pair of establishment hands? He's a judge. He says he walks around the ground eliciting opinion. I have never seen him other than at AGMs

To be honest i'd be amazed if he didn't go with the zeitgeist and the majority counties and end up supporting a reduction despite his apparent support of 14 games tonight but I'll stand corrected and delighted if the status quo is maintained and he sticks to his guns.

He did say he would organise a SGM within six weeks.

Yes, I thought it was an unnecessary comment about the petition 'being handed in by a non-member'.

The meeting was being recorded so I trust he will stick to what was said.

Perhaps the voted members representives on the committee could be more visible and proactive in organising signed petitions and calling for SGM on behalf of the members, because at present they seem invisible and unable to communicate with the members, then the Chairman might not have a dig at AN Other       non member organising a signed petition .
Strangely a non member can walk around the ground in members areas that now seemed open for all which are non policed.

I thought it was the case that, the Chairman was faced with someone, who being a member of another club. Could not be fobbed off easily.

If Essex had any competency, they could have stopped the petition. Under the ground regulation, banning the unauthorised soliciting of goods and services.

This was used, with a Cricket fanzine that Peter Edwards refused to stock in the shop, as he thought the content was childish.

There was a comment from the CEO, that Essex were looking at a vacant commercial premises near the ground. However, it fell through. What building was that?

They ought to look at the saga, with the old Chelmsford City FC ground. Before thinking of looking at nearby properties.

I thought it was another short-lived Fanzine, when they were all the rage.

I have issue No 1, from someone who knew somebody behind the Fanzine. There was a Cricket and sport memorabilia Fair in the Pavilion. One of the dealers had this issue, for sale at a price, which was not at a recent Football programme level. This was some years ago.

Interesting dp.

Was talk of reinventing fanzines in football circles has clubs were removing programmes and having access now to e - versions which were sent into your email address .
Otherwise - Some entrepreneurs have set up pod casts , perhaps that?s the next step .

Will they vote to members wishes ?  Nat .

The opening line on the webinar from the chairman was , everything to be taken into account , not just members view.

The most influence will be from the ECB it?s self , timely sent all counties 400k from the first sales of franchise teams half ownership . Accountants will have the final say, given that membership money does not cover the running cost of clubs .

Nat - can you ask Sam how many first class cricketers are  members  in PCA ??

I thought that almost all Players, were members of the PCA. They also provide services for members who are former Players.

Going back to when, Cricket was not well paid. Trevor Bailey dealt with hardship cases, and told of circumstances where former Players had really fallen on hard times.

We're not talking at the moment. He's playing too much golf and not enough net practice.
