This match was the 50th First Class Match for Essex involving Matt Critchley and also saw the attainment of 1500 First Class runs for Essex by Michael Pepper when he had scored 23 in the 1st Innings.

Michael also took 5 catches in the Yorkshire 1st Innings.

The Yorkshire pairing of ML Revis (150) and BO Coad (89) broke the record for the 9th wicket against Essex when they set a partnership of 169. The previous record of 124 was set up by PJ Hartley (87*) & PW Jarvis (47) at Chelmsford in 1986. They also broke the record for any opposition against Essex which had stood at 160* by EH Hendren (201*) & FJ Durston (45*) for Middlesex at Leyton in 1927
