A pity Billings didn't wind up Harmer a bit earlier.

But apart from that it was fairly horrible.

At least the proper cricket is now back for a couple of weeks.

Now we need the contributor, with his false indignation, The Grumbler, to have his say.

The match was already over as a contest by the time I tuned in, but I did at least get to see the Harmer psychodrama. That innings doesn't make up for any of it, but it was weirdly impressive. God knows where the team goes from here though.

He's a mouthpiece for the club far too concerned with not tarnishing his perks to say anything meaningful or critical of the shambles that Essex are currently.

I haven?t read much of him recently but he was on twitter a few months ago saying that Essex deserved a points deduction as a result of what appeared in the racism report so he certainly wasn?t much of a club mouthpiece then!

Oh he is , wanted that rather than a fine. Absolutely 'right on' hand wringer, the same is true of his career from those who have crossed paths with him. Absolutely nothing in the report to warrant what he said should have happened. Suspect he was too busy graffiting military transport planes to have watch us yesterday.

Harmer still thinks we have a chance of qualifying!  If the club have anything about them they will tell him and Elgar that if they want a rest this year then they can miss the rest of the T20 but they?re playing in the 50 over comp.  With the rubbish we?ve witnessed this year there is no excuse not to play the best possible XI in that.  It might be a second rate competition but when you have given so little in the top two competitions then surely you have to try and win that.

Pardon my ignorance but who are you referring to as the mouthpiece of Essex.
Can I assume by naming names, no one will be vilified with bringing the game or the club into disrepute.
I have only followed the match through the progressive comments on the Board and increasingly depressing they were.
As one of the contributors rightly asked, where does the Club go from here? We appear to have no money so cannot buy ourselves out of trouble and with the way matters are going who would want to come to Essex in their present state.
I note Sams is now playing at Notts. A useful white ball player, on his day a match winner.
Did we reject him, could we not afford him or did he just want to play elsewhere maybe receiving better terms than we could offer?

Well Harmer must be deluded or suffering with mental arithmetic deficiency.
We can now (joke joke) win a maximum of 6 games having already lost 7.
It would take some sort of statistical quirk for a team to finish 4th out of 9 yet winning less games than they have already lost.
Just front up Harmer, and tell us deserving members (and non-members for that matter), what the HELL is going on at our club?

Well that was a bit of last minute fun from Harmer (shame he can't do that when there is still actually a match to be won!!) but apart from that it was another humiliating, embarrassing performance. Surprisingly there was a very good crowd still, but as it was a white ball Friday night thrash type crowd, then most probably couldnt care less who won or how pathetic Essex are right now, as long as they had a pint in their hand!!

Kent in fourth place are on 18 points. So Essex will require at least another five wins, to overtake them. Assuming that Kent and the teams above them go on losing streaks. The problem is they play each other and both cannot both lose and a No Result will give two points.

With incidents involving Essex players and the Umpires in the last two games. I would not be surprised to hear about a point deduction.

Dream on Harmer.

Finishing on negative points would make it a record breaking season.

Good job I have not bothered to watch any of this tournament.

Yes I am a fair weather supporter.

Did Harmer punch anyone?

Last night, there were words exchanged between Cox and Billings, when Billings threw the ball at the stumps, in case Cox had moved out of his ground. There were further discussions between Harmer and Billings.

The way that Harmer was slogging the ball towards the end and not taking singles to put Amir on strike. Showed he was riled about something.

That would even top the time Middlesex finished on zero points.
