Private Investment

Surprised it's not been mentioned but the times reported a few days ago about the non hundred teams being approached individually for private investment and us being one who are considering proposals. Couple of other counties have rejected our of hand.

If we got a new ground out of it, and if we did I wouldn't rule out a hundred franchise as think our area or Kent could easily support one alongside the 2 London ones. Wether that would be good or bad it would ensure our survival in some professional form at least.

It would but does that really matter now. Members influence is pretty much nil these days it seems and if it ensures survival and everyone else does it, which they probably will eventually.

Sadly I have to agree but we should be clear that's what it will mean.

There were never a great number of members attending the AGM or Forums. Changing the status, would not make that great amount of difference.

Defeatism writ large from the responses to this topic. You are resigning the club to become like most professional football clubs i.e. owned/run by foreign interests and unaccountable to the club's supporters.

Instead we should aspire to be like Barcelona FC, Bayern Munich etc. and (continue to) be supporter owned.

Or as some of the big Spanish Football Clubs, where the President is elected annually. If things are not going well, the fans will vote him out.

In a word?yes. However I wouldn?t book your luxury holiday just yet. I suspect any payout will be low ?000s.

If membership numbers fell to Leicestershire levels, then the payout could be quite generous.

I am off to the roof of flats next to the Cricket School with my Rifle. Unless, someone who has just received the bill for the service charge has not got there first.
