Double Headers

 Essex?s 2025 Vitality Blast campaign begins with a double-header against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl on Friday 30 May.

The action then moves to The Cloud County Ground, Chelmsford, for the team?s first home matches of the season, starting with a Blast-Off clash against Somerset on Sunday 01 June, followed by another exciting double-header against Glamorgan.

 A first for Essex the double header with the Women?s and Men taking place on the same day. One price for both or can you buy individually if cannot attend all day ?

We've had England women followed by Essex men's team in a double header before, and there was no extra charge. It was a way to get some spectators for the women's game. I would br surprised if there was an extra charge above the normal T20 price, but I guess we will have to wait and see. If there was I would just attend the men's game.

It'll be one fixed price for both, otherwise people would just buy a cheap ticket for the women's game and stay in the ground.

The main thing for me is the turnaround between games, I'm happy to attend both in a double-header provided I'm not waiting longer than 30 minutes for the men's game to start after the women, otherwise I'll just turn up for the start of the men's game. Unlike the County Championship, the club doesn't let people out the ground for T20 games and I'm not sitting around doing nothing for an hour after the women's game waiting for the men's to start.

Nice to have a T20 game at both the Oval and Lords this year.

Because the ECB and club don't want the embarrassment of most of the crowd leaving after the first game.

Because common sense dictates no one would stay and watch it.

Without free schools tickets, giveaways and heavily discounted  on the gate tickets womens cricket would be watched by less than an ECB prem game. Same for women's football, unlike womens tennis and golf that offer a good product that can stand on its own 2 feet.

Spectators at Women's Football expect that the Players swap shirts at full-time. When this does not happen, they do not go again.

 From next season the ECB have given an option for double header games to have both games in having the first innings completed in both matches before the resumption of  both the second innings.  Eg men?s and women?s  match have first in innings then followed by the second.
This will help in the recuperation of players of playing 40 overs straight off, and help clubs to maximise catering and hospitality revenues.
