« on: October 27, 2024, 12:32:37 PM »
This man?s become available !

Former Australia batter Stuart Law has been sacked as coach of the men's USA national team.
Law was relieved of his duties after USA's 10-wicket defeat by Scotland in a one-day international qualifying match for the 2027 50-over World Cup.
He was only six months into a three-year contract with USA Cricket.
USA were bowled out for 144 in the opening match of the World Cup League 2 in Dallas on Friday.

Basically the club's board/committee are hell-bent on moving away from the typical men's head coach role and moving to a director of cricket role overseeing all men's, women's and academy cricket ?

Will this approach really bring any benefits?

No. I'm guessing more responsibility will rest with the respective captains. Or, they'll need to recruit a (yet another) layer of management between the DoC and the captains.

Madness.

'Never go back' is a good adage to follow for both parties.

Nope - this was all it said -at the end of an article about several sports things:

Quote
Meanwhile, the former England coach Chris Silverwood is understood to be down to the last three being interviewed for the vacant Essex coaching job.

Well, someone has to do it and he does have the credentials. He did not leave under a cloud, seemingly.

If the other two were big names, they would have been leaked already so I doubt whoever they are have the credentials Silverwood does.

I do wonder if a sticking point could be a potential reluctance to quit his assistant job at the Oval Oatcakes? I'd rather have a coach that is committed to Essex and only Essex during the English season. If that means sending him on his way then so be it..

We'll need another new coach as well to replace Mick Lewis. Not going to lie, it tells a stark story when McGrath is happy to poach the bowling coach, but leave the batting coach here at Essex. Speaks volumes..
