Voting Papers
« on: November 24, 2023, 04:54:42 PM »
I had the board voting papers in the post today.

Is it me, or is there a lot of people standing for the 3 vacancies? I seee the club are doing their 'prefered choice' option again this year!

I welcome that. It helps me eliminate people from selection.

Exactly,  me as well.  As Jo Farragher was asked to stand down by the club, she was the first to get my vote.

Reading the Essex till I die election addresses I will only be voting for Jo Faragher as it will be one in the eye for the cabal they are trying to create. The rest of the candidates are not worth two pence. As for Jason Gallian, there will be the same situation as with Stuart Turner years ago. A resignation due to having too much else on his plate.

As for the nominated candidates. One year there was a candidate who looking at the seconder. You would think I do not know the candidates but if he is a friend of that idiot he is not getting my vote.

The obsession with the Faraghers is quite frankly embarrassing. John’s failure to redevelop Chelmsford during his chairmanship is a huge reason why this club won’t exist as a full time entity by the end of decade.

Not having a dog in this fight…but I think this problem predates JF’s tenure.

It absolutely does. I’m certainly not singling him out, but the fact is he came in and didn’t back up his bravado. But hey, at least we got those shiny new floodlights!

No doubt one of his mates will come along and throw the ‘how many trophies did we win’ card at me. But I couldn’t give a toss about that. I give a toss about having a full time Essex side to support in the future, which is looking less and less likely by the year whilst stuck in this rotting tip.

Along with how many trophies. There is the statement. You have never played at that level, so you are not entitled to an opinion.

Following that logic, we shouldn’t vote in elections. Mind you looking at the state of democracy at the moment…

You would’ve preferred that he didn’t come in? The alternative was Grayson and Co and that wasn’t going well…

Middlesex seem to be content to play a couple of their home matches next season at our "rotting tip".

Yeah, because it's cheap as chips to host due to that exact reason. But I'm sure their players can't wait to use the home facilities as opposed to the tent that we normally stick away players in, or that cupboard under the press room.

I'd have preferred him to have backed up his bravado with something far more substantial than new floodlights. He didn't and as such he joins the list of previous incumbents who also failed in the role.

At this point, the cricket that Essex play whether it be successful or not is irrelevant to me when taking into account the future of English cricket in this country. Although I will try to enjoy being able to support a full-time professional cricket club, because it won't last into the next decade unless something changes radically.

A supporter who doesn't give a  toss about how many trophies we win?
An interesting concept.

With my membership status. I get to hear a little bit more. John Faragher got handed a right hospital pass regarding the ground development which Derek Bowden was unable to handle. Although to be fair no one else may have been able to to either.

Dominic Cummings has the compensation that looking at Keith Brown, there is someone whose telephone rings less than his.
