Amazing that Critchley is making runs at a good pace batting properly. Please can management tell the top order that they can play sensibly if they want when chasing a small total

37 runs needed off 36 balls. Routine.

This is deja vu suicide cricket  mirroring the Somerset debacle,

Sams has hit a six, no pressure, need a run a ball, the next ball a great yahoo and clean bowled. That is a two ball snapshot of Sams. .

Critchley batting well and while he is there we should win, but don’t bank on it.

Yet another needless roller coaster.

Well done Matt Critchley. Really high-class innings to win a match we looked to have blown. Good to see Buttleman showing some mettle at the end too.

Phew. Never in doubt.

Another great bowling performance. Sam Cook just gets better. Disappointing from Lawrence, Das and Khushi, but Walter, Critchley, Sams and Buttleman kept their heads. That'll do their confidence some good.

 A wins a win .
Nothing anywhere to say you have to win all games by bazball, just need to win anyway.

Great knock by Critch, at last, a batsman with a brain! Good support from Buttleman at the end, too.
As for how Sams got himself out, I think it was the most brainless shot by an Essex batsman so far this year. And there have been plenty to choose from.

Sams should be made to sit down by himself in a darkened room and then view ten times the shot he played and was clean bowled. I would then carry out a lobotomy to determine if he actually does have a brain.

We got him from the bargain bucket so what can we expect?!

I'll miss Paul Newton and Dick Davies when they pack it in, never afraid to mask their anger at terrible batting.

Also we could do a lot worse than employ Simon Doull as a batting coach, who gave the impression on Sky that he would make a better coach than anyone we currently have employed.

How did you listen to both commentaries?

Had Sky on the TV all game, but got the radio commentary up on the laptop around halfway through the Essex innings. More than enough time to enjoy Newton and Davies at their angriest best.

Plus giving him the last over when he had already bowled three poor ones already. Absolutely clueless. Critchley was the obvious choice.
