Glamorgan (A)
« on: June 02, 2022, 05:57:15 PM »
Essex lost the toss and bat first.

Unchanged team:
Rossington, Buttleman, Pepper, Critchley, Walter, Sams, Westley, Harmer, Nijjar, Allison, Cook

Well this is shocking. Currently 94-8. I don't think I'll bother with the Glamorgan innings.

Let's just hope the performance against Gloucestershire is a lot better. The only positive news is that Dan Lawrence is back in training.

Well that was a dogs dinner of a batting performance. Time for Khushi to come in for Buttleman. Rossington needs to have a re-think about his approach.

Under the distance selling regulations can we return Dan Sams for a full refund?

Pretty pathetic performance. Sams and Nijar probably don’t really deserve selection on showing so far. Why Buttleman opening and Westley at 7 ?

Careful now, ANY negative comments about our “Aussie stars” this season can be construed as “abuse” by some in here!!

Sams looking rubbish. Buttleman looks like a club player. Critchley fabulous, a wonderful signing.

Yup. Time for some serious thinking about T20 team selection and the batting order. Buttleman out, Sams in Last Chance Saloon.

He does, sadly the supposed Wheater upgrade has looked barely better.

We just seem a bit clueless when it comes to batting first.  We have no idea on how to set a total.  We've lost our last 8 matches we've batted first in.

The overseas player choices due not look good. Someone who has never played here before and before he mastered it, it was time to leave.

A player who appears to be turning out a clunker. In the past with likes of Hugh Page and Lopsy, they were one for other reasons than ability and few and far between.

Is there a sports agency who specialises in this type of player? If so should Essex sign up elsewhere?

What can we do though? Ultimately over half the team isn't good enough to play in this format, they either aren't T20 players in the history of man (Westley, Walter), or just not good enough full stop (Buttleman, Sams). Some tick both boxes. I said we'd struggle if Rossington didn't fire & it's proving so. At least Pepper's showing some promise.

Other than bringing Snater in to just bat and getting Lawrence fit there's little else we can do. Bringing in a Khushi or Das is nothing more than a hopeful punt and the coaching staff would never swallow their pride and ask Chef to come back.

Did anyone outside of the ECCC bunker think Buttleman was an upgrade on Wheater? Mind you the latter threw a hissy fit and moved on to a much better remunerated role in The City: those toilets don’t clean themselves…

I was referring to Rossington as the Wheater upgrade being barely better than Buttleman this season.

Maybe he is but he hasn't shown it with the bat this year.
