Gone. Good. Presided over ever increasing financial losses and a continuation of poor member/spectator relations.

No doubt some will give credit to him for the team's success. We'll never know how much of the success was down to him.

Is this down to his faux-pas at the Member Forum? It's not been put online yet ..

One thing I will say in favour of Derek Bowden is he cancelled the ground development, other CEO's may not have found a way to dump the developers.

I hope that a successor does not try and bring it back. Holding a members forum with a snake oil salesman consultant. Who cannot answer simple questions like. What will it look like?

When the post is advertised, I wonder who the joke applicants will be. These are not the people similar to ones who stand in General Elections knowing that they have no chance and are only doing it for a laugh. I mean someone who thinks that they are a serious candidate, when clearly they are not.

I wonder if they might delay an appointment to save some money. After all what does a CEO actually do in winter?

Let me rephrase that:

"After all what does a CEO actually do...?"

One thing that was said about Peter Edwards was that he did too much. Even carrying on when he was seriously ill.

I wonder if Ronnie Irani might be worth a shout for the job.  He seems to be doing quite well with the cricket committee ?

He wasn't CEO though - secretary/general manager ...

I am told he had a shrewd business brain and in some ways the club has clearly progressed under him although as others have said that was probably due to the change in chairmanship, coaching staff and captaincy more than anything he did. He did not really seem like a cricketing man and unlike Peter Edwards, say, was as remote as he could be from the membership. I wrote to him twice during his tenure once to complain over a ticketing cock up from Administration and another about his hopelessly over the top obsession with health and safety that no other county seemed to observe, but never got a reply. I can't say I mourn his departure.

Interestingly, the story about him going was briefly on BBC Text service yesterday, then disappeared - despite them having very little on the Headlines section of the cricket pages.

Success on the field achieved despite Mr Bowden, not because of him IMO.

I concur with others above re his lack of engagement, seemed to delight in hiding away or getting his PA to send template replies.

Can't see that he'll be missed.......
