Surrey seems to be the hardest word
« on: April 09, 2014, 11:23:32 AM »
Under pressure from members Surrey are going to stock a guest beer from each and every county they play this season.

So when we play them in a couple of weeks we can sup Brentwood Brewery beer.

Oh the irony.

What's the matter with something from Crouch Vale. Or Red Fox. Or Maldon Brewery?

Crouch Vale was available during Surrey's beer festival.

Unlike our laughable beer festival which entailed even more Shepherd Neame than usual.

The fact that you can't buy Essex brewed beer at Essex.CCC is a disgrace.

But then no matter how vital our feedback the club never act on any of it.

If past experience is anything to go by, there'll be a beer festival at the Second's games at Coggeshall in July, with plenty of Essex beers. At reasonable prices, too.

So a beer festival can be organised with less than 50 in attendance but the club can't arrange a guest beer under any circumstances where the 1st 11 is concerned.

Guess that is what happens when you sell your soul to a shoddy brewery.

Lot more than 50 if the weathers OK.

The point still stands though.

The club are obviously locked into a deal where the only beer they can sell (at games that matter) is that Shepherd Neame swill.

Now there I agree with you. Can't even have a local guest beer, apparently. If we did it would probably sell out first of course!
And where they get that Oranjeboom stuff from I hate to think!

Blimey!  First time I've ever agreed with a word VP has written.

I did recommend the Oval beer festival to Danny last year.  They had a great range of London beers
and brought in the locals.

Danny's main concern was space, rather than any exclusivity deal.

So in what respect is the club not an omnishambles?

I would imagine that will be one less concern for him come next season, at least in the member's enclosure anyway. ::)
