Top of the Flops

"Down Down" by the Quo is a catchy little number.

"Creep" by Radiohead isn't but it should still be Larry's theme tune.

Fade out again. High and Dry. The Bends. Exit music. No surprises. How to disappear completely.

Titles so fitting that there's no need to bother with any punch line.

Except maybe...2+2=5

Talking Heads' "Road to Nowhere" would seem particularly apposite for ECCC.

Then there's Stealers Wheel's "Stuck in the Middle of Division Two": "Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right..."

And The Pogues' classic "Fairytale of New Writtle Street" - new version in which the ECCC chairman nods off during a committee meeting and dreams that he's running a successful county team.

I'd have thought  'Hotel California' by the Eagles might be appropriate.

''Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
 Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
 Bring your alibis''

'Hello Goodbye' by The Beatles when our batsmen come out to bat,
'Long Road to Ruin' by The Foo Fighters - sums up Essex.
'Living in the past' by Jethro Tull.
More positively - 'We're Gonna Win' by Bryan Adams.
'Song 2 ' - Blur - no cricket link but a very upbeat ,positive song, should always be played at the Colchester Festival (Blur come from the area).
'So you win again' - by Hot Chocolate.
'We are the Champions' - Queen - well we can all dream, can't we??

Paul Hardcastle's "19" would be a good addition to the list. Reminding Essex of a total score that they could possibly beat.

If we're allowed to paraphrase RTD could come out to "Batting all over the World".

Or should that be Drinks carrying where the IPL is concerned?

Rumour has it that Paul Grayson is auditioning for the Steve Martin part in a remake of the movie, 'Leap of Faith.'

"Dumb & Dumber" is being remade.

Larry & Silverwood would be perfect casting.

With the prospects for this season again looking rather poor, it seems unlikely  we will be singing  "Hats of to Larry".
