Bob Willis RIP
« on: December 04, 2019, 04:34:17 PM »
Devastating news about Bob Willis. He was missing from The Debate for what was described as a “procedure” with the expectation he would be back for the SA test series. He was obviously a great fast bowler but had developed a deserved reputation as an outstanding & delightfully curmudgeonly pundit.
The Debate will be nowhere near the same without him. :-[

Didn't agree with him often but an important part of my cricketing world, young and old.

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay
Forever young

RIP Robert George Dylan Willis MBE

What a shock that is, personally I didn't like him & his views but certainly wouldn't have wished this on him, RIP to a fine fast bowler.

He wasn’t afraid to be honest & put players noses out of joint if he felt the need. What’s not to like?

Met him a few times and found him utterly charming, friendly and very funny. No ego or arrogance about the man, happy to meet people and talk enthusiastically about many subjects. A true gentleman and he will be sorely missed.
