Quarter Final
« on: August 31, 2019, 10:06:43 AM »
Thinking of going Wednesday on public transport.

Does anyone have any ideas on best places to stay for 10.00PM finish.

Don't know the geography or public transport too well.

You have no chance by public transport. Don't you know trains and buses pack up around 6 up north?

Why couldn’t they move that red ball game from Old Trafford for this important T20 match?  Typical ECB.

For hotels in Chester le Street simply google "Chester-Le-Street" and hotels - there is a website with advice about accommodation nearest to the cricket ground.
For transport, google National Rail and input wherever you'll be coming from and "Chester-Le-Street", then follow the links on the website.

I'm sorry, quincy, but I don't know of any accommodation near the ground, nor public transport links, as we always drove to the ground - would have taken us 45 minutes just to get to Darlington station to get a train and we could be there in the car in 50 minutes.  Just last week, a friend asked me about accommodation near Durham, which was when I found that the pub/hotel that someone recommended fairly near the ground has reverted to being just a pub/eatery.

Thanks Linda,

We've booked into Travelodge in Durham Wed and Thurs nights just in case we need the reserve day.

Decent advance singles there and back on the train so could be worse.

Do you mind me asking what fares you found ?  (And where?) -- all seemed to be £90+ return when I looked

On Trainline on Sunday. £37.30 each way London to Durham with railcard.

Just looked on there, there's still singles at similar prices ie 37.95 first class at 12.30pm wed. (4 left)

Should rain prevent play this evening, there is another day set aside tomorrow but curiously play would start again at 7. Sky will be covering the other match by then so you would have thought an afternoon start makes sense. It is not like there is a crowd to consider. May be academic anyway and they play tonight. Just hope no one gets frostbite.

Just driven back from Widnes: chucking it down most of the way up the M6 and along the A66, as it has done on and off all day.  Thinking there would be no play tonight until we got quite close to home, round Bowes/Barnard Castle way and it suddenly stopped - bone dry, so they can't have had any rain today and hope the same further up the A1.  Will be with them in spirit whilst watching on our NowTV box.

I know we were fortunate to qualify for the Q/F but that is no excuse for the Lanky love-fest by those Sky morons Charles Dagnall and Dominic Cork.
I would expect more partisanship from current Lancashire player Graham Onions, but he seems quite neutral in comparison. Sound turned off now.
