When I saw the team I was expecting us to get hammered but if we had fielded properly then we would have won.  Interesting to see Harmer captaining when Chopra is in the side.  Not sure why that was?  Snater bowling the last over of the powerplay on debut when they were none down not he best decision.  A real hiding to nothing.

A close game I agree, but I think that[ it is a disgrace. When Supporters buy tickets in advance, and this match was a sell out, they expect to see the Club putting out their best side and trying their to win  every match even if there is no chance of progressing in the competition. At the very least you would expect to see both overseas stars - Zampa and Siddle performing - their arrivals were certainly heavily highlighted by the Club. Where was RTD - rested ?? - Why ? two 20 over games in a week ??  Going into a match with only 4 front line batsmen ? - Where is Brown ??  I could go on.

I think the Club is taking the support for granted - T20 is our biggest source of Income and it will be deserving if that contempt for fans comes home to haunt them in ticket sales next Season !!

I had thought that the previous unprofessional attitude had come to an end with the arrival of Ronnie Irani at the helm. Maybe not.

There was more batting in that side than any other we put out this year with Nijjar due at 10.  Chopra, Wheater, Walter (who's been playing more as a batsman in 2nd team cricket), Lawrence, Bopara, Zaidi and Pepper are all batsmen.  Browne is not a t20 batsman.

We've won 2 games all season so it's not as if we did anything with our stars playing.  Using the chance to have a look at 2 or 3 new players was pretty logical in this match, 2 days before a CC game.

In my experience only a small  percentage of any Essex T20 crowd actually care about the result.  We go to about four games always sit in the same stand and rarely see the same faces.  I suspect a fair few just go to one game a year and are oblivious of our overall record or the identity of our non appearing overseas stars.

As a supporter I was pleased to see some of the younger players given a chance.  If there is nothing on the game I’d rather see that than the usual suspects underperforming.

However I think the results will affect membership attendance as the negative aspects of the T20 experience, getting up every five minutes to let the drunks go for refills or empty their bladders etc, seem so much worse when we are losing.

Stringbok, I agree with a lot of what you say especially about the drinkers. It isn't so bad on the Pavilion benches where many proper supporters sit but the seats are uncomfortable!

Is there any chance of Snater being retained? Has anyone seen him bowl well?
