How come Lanky get a full match in tonight, and the rains were terrestrial this morning? We’ve had far more rain in the past couple of weeks compared to Essex.  Someone should speak to the ecb...as for Zampa, well my excolleague was annoyed when he upped and moved franchise in Aussie. Pretty much par for the course with many cricketers nowadays. No loyalty whatsoever.

I've been up near Leeds this week and there's been no rain in ages. Certainly none this week until Friday ... and then just a shower.

It is a shame that we have lost Zampa. A truly remarkable man. He was in the squad for the 7.00 start at Chelmsford on Friday but played in the CPL in Trinidad only 7 hours later. How did he manage that? Perhaps we are being issued with fake news. Remember the tourist match was shortened because it was too hot for the Indian players. How did they Indian squad manage to book their Birmingham hotel for an extra night at such short notice?

Yep you have good insight. 'Remarkable' is not a word I would use.

Well, we're assuming that Zampa got up in the morning and decided to go somewhere colder and wetter than Chelmsford.  He could've negotiated this and someone didn't bother to change the team sheet. This is the reverse of Dwayne Bravo - maybe AZ shouted "I'm a proper T20 cricketer get me out of here"?

So this suggests the decision was decided a few days ago and no doubt Zampa had been thinking about it for a bit which is rather disappointing if the case!

I have to admit to not being interested in T20 cricket but the way we, as county champions, have rolled over against practically all oppositions is pretty disgraceful. Do we think this would have been the case under Sikverwood.

We weren't great last year either.

Saying that we haven't had any T20 specialists since Napier & Pettini.

It's not that uncommon for players to go to the CPL once the Blast has finished so I suspect that he was always planning to go there once his Essex commitments finished and he just brought it forward a week.

There could have been an opt out clause in his contract once Essex could not qualify.

I suspect this arrangement suits everyone apart from ticket holders who wanted to see Zampa play. I imagine Essex have got some money back.

You would expect so...or, given eccc’s record, we hope so!

I've got a ticket for Lord's on Thursday. Hopefully it will rain so I can go to the pub.

No result could be the winner here.

Still so long as some beer is sold the MCC will be happy.

Yes but that isn’t the point - clearly this has been brewing for a week or two but it’s all water under the bridge now!
