Oh dear, poor old hapless, clueless No Change Essex. This wouldn't have happened under Grayson!
One of several aspects that continues to baffle me is even when ECCC are out of contention for a competition they never bring in fringe players, just stick to the same old masterplan....same old players. Yes, the one that doesn't work, or actually hasn't really worked since the T20/Twenty-20 Cup began.

Up until the last couple of seasons our T20 record has actually been pretty good.  We'd pretty much always get out of the group and look a decent enough T20 side.  We just tended to choke in knockout matches.  As the article here says Grayson had supervised consistent displays in limited-overs cricket since taking charge in 2008 with Essex second only to Hampshire in the number of victories in one-day cricket in that time. But while Hampshire have gone on to win trophies, Essex have repeatedly faltered in the final stages, typified by this season's T20 Blast and Royal London campaign

After Grayson left we've made it through the Group Stages in the 50 over competiton every time but again choked in the knockout rounds.  We now though just look a really poor, unbalanced side in T20 cricket.

A pathetic humiliation !!  Players look completely demotivated and don't want to be there. Would not back this lot to beat the Boy Scouts Under 12 Team.  There is only one possible result against Surrey tomorrow and that is another complete thrashing - sadly I am taking two guests to tomorrow's game and next two guests to Friday's match as well - I am feeling embarrassed to be taking them - will spend my entertainment budget more wisely next year !! Well Done McGrath and Masceranus - the Silverwood effect has gradually worn off and you are now making Grayson look good.  This form is bound to move on into our remaining Championship games and maybe relegation is a possibility after all.

Ilford Eagle beat me to the punch and I totally agree with everything he has written,  but have just watched Finch and Roy slaughter Middlesex.

That is how to play T20. Power, precision, placement.

I just hope the Essex hierarchy were watching and have taken note.

When do we play Surrey?

Already started my rain dance.

Last night I watched Hampshire sink to a new low as they meekly surrendered to Kent.

Not sure which team currently is the greater embarrassment, Hampshire or Essex.

Fortunately, maybe, I shall be at Lords watching the second Test, when they meet each other at The Ageas Ground on Sunday week.
