Not only does the cupboard seem bare, but the Emoeror has no new clothes!!!

From the moment Wheater was bowled by a beauty from Denly, a long sloe death, chasing 190 odd was inevitable.

Without details of all these injuries suddenly manifesting themselves, I hope players are not hiding behind them to avoid playing. Smacks a little of that to me.

Where do we go from here?  The prospect of three games in four days with a strong squad, is daunting enough, but with our line up, one dreads the outcomes.

As it is likely that this decline will continue, it is very difficult to think that it will not impact on the rest of the season, which does not bear thinking about.

The selection of our overseas players must be questioned. Saddle has performed admirably with the red ball, but the white ball is different, and he is well past his best. Zampa has done all and more than could have been expected.of him, but has received little support in the field.

The ugly truth is surely, that we have not selected well in the overseas department, and thus have little cutting edge with bat and ball.

The table does not lie. The results reflect our position and we must accept that we are very poor with little sign of improvement in the near future.

At least I do not have to drag myself to Chelmsford to endure prolonged suffering, but little solace as I am watching Hampshire, a team on paper at least, much much stronger than Essex, but still capable of playing some of the most irresponsible cricket I have ever seen.

Who would have thought Essex and Hampshire propping up the South Division?

Tomorrow I have the dubious delight of seeing Hampshire v Kent. On tonight’s performance, Kent should walk it, but one never knows.

Bopara just "liked" a tweet saying its a joke that he's coming in as low as 5 and 6.  The tweet is 100% correct.  After the first game tendo batted at 4 he said in an interview that it hasn't worked and he'd be going back down the order.  He did for one match and then moved himself back up to 4 again.  Bopara has always batted 4 and tendo 5 or 6.  I can't see the logic in changing it.  Bopara has always been someone who preferred to get himself in and tendo has been a finisher.
The last few games we've seen Finch, Munro and Stoinis all make good contributions against us and yet we felt we didn't need an overseas batsman when it was so obvious to everyone we did.  Everyone that is except McGrath.  A guy that thinks Harmer is a number 7 batsman.  A guy who comes across as an incredibly unimpressive person as well as a poor coach.

Sadly, everything I said BEFORE the season about McGrath (and during it, to some criticism from certain parties) is looking like it has a lot of merit :( (and I dont say that with any pleasure as I honestly and truly wished that I had been wrong about him) Ditto too for the hapless Coles (he's totally lived down to my expectations so far too!).
This must just about be the worst T20 side Essex have ever had and they really aren't much above being called an embarrassment. Siddle, Porter and Zampa all bowled pretty well i thought, but the rest were rubbish, ditto the batsmen apart from Walter (uhmm, i thought he was supposed to be a bowler who also batted, so why didnt he get a single over?) and Bopara.
No hope and nowhere to go now for the rest of this competition, still half the matches to go too! :(
RUBBISH!

Walter took most T/20 wickets last season but doesn't get a bowl, after FINALLY getting selected. Why did it take so long?
Harmer yet again proves he is no asset in T/20, but seems undroppable. Why?
Things need to change, and quickly.
I suggest:
Chopra
Bopara
Walter
Patel
Tendo
Wheater
Foster*
Zampa
Siddell
Quinn
Porter

Tail too long.Regarding Bopara batting too low down he has only got himself to blame. Over the past couple of seasons he has batted far too slowly. Latterly he appears to re-discovered his mojo. However it has been justified to drop him down the order.

We've been down this road before.

Lets hope it doesn't take nigh on a decade to rectify the mistake this time.

He tweeted a couple of days ago that he is fit, training hard and hoping to be involved soon. Make of that what you will.

He's playing for the 2nds today in the T20 against Kent.  I presumed he was injured.  If he hasn't been then that makes the selections even more of a joke.

50 in game 2.  How he doesn't even make the squad with Westley and Lawrence injured I have no idea.  He should be playing when eveyone is fit.

A falling out? RTD and perhaps others were not impressed with his fielding in some of the earlier games.

I've no idea but he played the first game in the competition and was in the squad for the 4 after that without playing.  Then last night he's dropped from the squad when we're a batsman down in Westley and now can't get in when we're two batsman down.
