It would be nice to think that the ECB, on behalf of one its member clubs, protested against this nonsense and asked the Indians to stump up to allow Essex to refund admission money for all days, but I expect they actually said "Are you sure you don't want to play only 2 days?", or even "why not use this as a chance to trial our new 100 ball format using five bowlers per over and a beach ball"?

Although a charity game, it will be more competitive than the gloried net at Ce!lmsford.

I suspect this is complete rubbish since I first heard a rumour of the change of status last Thursday from a well connected source.

Reading the article suggested by JasonP, it appears that India are afraid that their players might get injured whilst fielding on our parched outfield. How is it that they will be OK for the first three days but it will become dangerous on Day 4. I assume that they have made travel arrangements for Saturday. Why were we not told before. There is only a ticket refund path on the Essex CCC web site. No reimbursement for travel and hotels alreadty booked.
