New Entrance gate layout
« on: April 30, 2018, 03:45:08 PM »
We have been listened to:

"The Club are pleased to announce a new gate layout will be in place for the Yorkshire County Championship game. Using data from the first home game of the season alongside Member and ticket holder feedback the new layout will see entry points relocated on to the driveway opposite the Killick Gate meaning there will be no need to scan in/out when moving around the ground.

The River Gate will see an additional scanning point for entry and an additional two for exit during the busy lunch break. An additional entry point for those using the onsite Car Park (including blue badge holders and Premier Members) will be situated next to the Essex Cricket Store.

The Members’ area will remain closed to the public unless accompanied by a Member.

Sales and collections will be available on the Driveway with sales only at the River entrance.

The Club have worked hard to overcome numerous obstacles to make this change possible and we hope that it helps to improve the spectator experience at the ground."

Partly listened to. I asked for the scan out to be removed. I cannot recall any other ground doing this. If I were getting all legal about this it could be construed as false imprisonment to deny exit without scanning out.

They still need to improve the entry point into the ground from Meteor Way.

I think the scan out is so they know how many are in the ground during play in case there is an emergency.

Totally agree. It’s particularly hard on those of us who aren’t walking as well as we did once, but haven’t got as far as a blue-badge, who, having trailed all the way from Meteor Way have to walk all the way up to New Wriitle Street and double back all the beside the car park.

Yes - not only that but crossing the point where the cars enter is not very safe. A steward wasn't looking at pedestrians last week and was waving a car to reverse into a group of supporters!

But they don't scan spectators out after 4.00pm. Do we only start to be expendable then and not before?

It's b******s. Do you really think they'd do a head count in the event of an evacuation?! And if they did ...it would be accurate?!

It's remarkable that the club can issue a quite lengthy statement about these new arrangements (and it remains to be seen if they are any better) while still not explaining why we need to scan out in the first place.
