Just to let everyone know, Headingly Lodge has no rooms available for the Saturday night during this fixture - guessing there is a rugby match.

Unfortunately, that means we won't be attending: we went to the match in 2012 (?) at the same time of year and it was only the ability to go back to the room that made it bearable - it rained a lot and was grey and cold.  In our room, we could get warm and make a hot drink, whilst still watching the cricket.  But we're not members of either team, so can't go into the pavilion, and there's no parking at the ground so couldn't even pop back to the car to get warm.  The weather may be entirely different this year, but there's no way of knowing.

Plenty of other hotels in the vicinity of the ground. Bring a coat and you'll be fine.

We've given up our Durham membership, as we're not prepared to spend most of the CC matches (we don't watch T20) freezing, so not likely to be doing similar at Headingley!  Sitting for 8 hours in the cold in one's seventies is not our idea of fun!

It is worth warning any fans visiting Headingley this season that the old rugby stand has been demolished so that end of the ground is a building site. There is a new rugby stand also under construction so ear plugs might be advisable.

A new premier inn is due to open soon just 5 minutes walk from the ground and likely to be a better bet than Headingley lodge.

That's interesting about the Premier Inn: may consider it.  We knew about the rugby stand being rebuilt: to our recollection, that was the only covered stand where non-members would be able to shelter from the rain!

I would be surprised if you had trouble entering the East Stand during a county match even being non members. The main entrance has a steward but the rear is often unattended. The Trueman enclosure underneath the grotesque Carnegie media centre does provide some shelter as it is partly undercover. It is designated a members area but is never stewarded during county matches. In the absence of the rugby stand I will sit there myself as it is behind the wicket. Unfortunately wherever you sit in April is likely to be freezing

Too, true, which is why a room in the Lodge is such a Godsend!

I be going up from essex just to see something other than england v australia....lets hope the weather  is sunny  and warm ,i was surprised how cheap the train tickets were to leeds.
