Only thing good about that was that our NRR didn't take a battering. Just delaying the inevitable now, either get knocked out tomorrow or get our arses booted back to Chelmsford by Notts. Look at those bowling figures!

We beat Notts at Trent Bridge in a QF a few years ago. Nothing to fear.

Should've won it. Age is finally catching up with RTD and JF.

Agreed, after the powerplay we had, we should have won pretty comfortably.  We really are a terrible fielding side these days that cost us big time.  Taylor, generally our best fielder was awful.

We're an old side which sets us back enough in the field, then you've all our bowlers who can't field bar Amir perhaps and then you've got the likes of Lawrence who at his age should be a far better fielder than he is. Compare that to Kent who had that young spinner who was brilliant in the field. Starting to think that something isn't being done right at coaching level from the kids up to the seniors.

While I'm in a mood to rant, is Zaidi out of contract this summer? If so I'd get rid. Woeful batter who comes off once every 20 knocks. Can't field and we've got other spinners who can do his job.

Can't agree. Not without Amir. It'll be Middlesex or Kent away revisited depending on who bats first.

Was a very entertaining match so suppose we shouldn't complain, but some strange decisions made:

1. Why did we go into a T20 Match with only 4 batsmen ?  After all in T20 it is Batsmen that win matches.

2. Why did Jamie Porter only bowl one over, but Paul Walter bowled his full quota of four which cost 65 runs.

3. Why select Callum Taylor for this match ? - having selected him seemed no prospect of him bowling or batting.

4. Despite having eight bowlers to choose from only Amir emerged with any credit. Why do our spinners bowl so many full tosses ?

Anyway we can now concentrate on the Championship I suppose.

Terrific entertainment & we should have won after getting to 100 in under 8 overs, well as Lawrence batted we needed Wheater to open, felt for Chopra who got his 2nd superb T20 century & again finished on the losing side, very poor bowling by us with the honourable exception of Amir who was quite brilliant, Haggett did similarly for Kent. I have never stood & applauded a Kent batsman before but did along with many others for a quite superb century by Denly (even better than Ingram's a month ago). We have to win tomorrow & rely on Glam, Hants & Sorry all winning, realistically I think we are out as we needed this tonight. I think we are destined never to win the T20 Trophy.

Wheater is injured so the only other batsman we had available is Velani.  The fact that they didn't even pick him against the West Indies when all the other reserve players played suggests that he's not part of the plans anymore.

A Wheater was named in Squad pre match - injured or thrown toys out of peak again ? Also where was Brown - not ideally suited to T20, but must have been a far better option.

I've got Derbyshire at 40/1 EW to win the tournament. Knew they'd have a real chance of making the knockouts and causing a surprise this season with Tahir in the team. We should still be beating them if we play them, watched them on Sky two nights ago and you can tell the nerves are starting to show as they get closer to making the quarter final for the first time. If they didn't have games against teams around the bottom of the table in their run in then they might well have choked it.

Hope you didn't put too much on them. This season has just reinforced the view what's the point of them. Playing crappy kolpaks instead of young players (Smit vs Hosein) a team full of county rejects none with any prospects of playing for England. Yes they have the '16' year old (haha) spinner from Afghanistan. but in reality he's another import who is at least 10 years older than he's meant to be.

He's never thrown toys out as much as certain trolls like Nat claim!

I think basically we need to rely on Glamorgan beating Middlesex otherwise we are out as our run rate is much worse than Middlesex.  Our runrate is pretty close to Somerset so even if they beat Hampshire we could still finish above them by a slightly better win than them.  The Kent v Surrey result is irrelevant because whoever wins that will finish above us.  Still pretty unlikely.
