Kent
« on: August 16, 2017, 08:30:29 PM »
Biggest game of the season tomorrow with the Mike Denness trophy and T20 qualification at stake :)

Actually I'm thinking elimination and a week to practice red ball cricket before Somerset might be preferable to more white ball practice and a fruitless trip up the motorway to NottingHalesshire.

But still wouldn't want the trophy going over the bridge / through the tunnel for the first time.  If we beat Kent and lose to Sussex can we still be eliminated :)

There are so many permutations you'd need an A Level to fathom it! Basically if we win both we go through, 3rd if Hants beat Somerset tomorrow & 2nd if we win both & they lose although Sorry can also win both & get to 16 points when NRR kicks in. It's an amazing group in that in theory all 9 teams still have a chance with only Glam definitely through. If we finish 3rd we may get Derby who are currently 2nd in North Group so not the worst scenario however 4th may mean the dreaded Notts again, tonight should be quite a match, looking forward to it & also tomorrow at Hove!!

Don't underestimate Derby. They have brought John Wright in as a specialist coach and he has transformed their fortunes so far.

I've got Derbyshire at 40/1 EW to win the tournament. Knew they'd have a real chance of making the knockouts and causing a surprise this season with Tahir in the team. We should still be beating them if we play them, watched them on Sky two nights ago and you can tell the nerves are starting to show as they get closer to making the quarter final for the first time. If they didn't have games against teams around the bottom of the table in their run in then they might well have choked it.

We look a batsman light tonight, plenty of all rounders though so let's hope they all perform and we can win the Denness Trophy :)

Not looking good. Not gone tonight. I assume they are using the ultra short boundary ?

222 to win - have we ever chased that many down recently? at all?

Ouch!! That sounded very painful although we did well in the last 2 overs! Think it's bye bye to the MD trophy though :(
Just how much class does Amir have though to go for just 20 runs in amidst all that carnage!
Going to be a HUGE blow if we do lose him for the rest of the season as he arguably already looks like the best overseas bowler we have ever had.

Why should we lose him for the rest of the season. Have I missed something?

I heard RTD gave up a catch because he wasn't sure if he'd stepped on the boundary rope. Hope Mr Northeast was watching.

Should've won it. Age is finally catching up with RTD and JF.

Only thing good about that was that our NRR didn't take a battering. Just delaying the inevitable now, either get knocked out tomorrow or get our arses booted back to Chelmsford by Notts. Look at those bowling figures!
