Vs Middlesex
« on: August 11, 2017, 07:44:56 PM »
I notice that Crane has played for Hampshire tonight.

Could Westley have played?. Both are in the England squad.

Is it up to Counties whether England players are released or do England release some and not.

Does not look an imposing score tonight. Don't know how the wicket is playing.

Must get Stirling early and need plenty of Amir magic.

Makes a pleasant change from our usual snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Great effort by the teamperhaps not quite all over yet but we probably need to win the rest of our games.

Another good win which means we are just "hanging on" in the T20.....

Whats the point in playing Dixon though? only bowled 1 over in each of his last 2 matches!!...would be better off giving Cook or Taylor some experience as they are both promising young players who look like they could become very good players in the future, something we know that Dixon is never going to be!!

Good win to defend a below par score. Agree about Dixon.

Still hanging in there - just!! Maybe we will qualify right at the death for the third year in a row but frankly I don't think we deserve to or won't get any further, still I'd take that & win CC1 this year. At the end it was easier than 9 runs would suggest, both sides started very well & fell away, we should have got 200 from 93-3 at halfway but batsmen got themselves out when well set although Middx did the same, bowlers generally did well although Walter a bit expensive, we really need to win all 3 left & hope for the best, amazing group in that all 9 can still qualify in theory even Kent but they need a miracle, we need a minor miracle but at least a step in the right direction again.

We definitely look a bowler short to be a force in T20 at the moment. Dixon, Walter and Harmer all look vulnerable.
A good win tonight but not sure we look like a threat to the best in this format. I'd rather we didn't squeak through and then we can get on with the CC and the chance of glory.

I'd be happy if we sneak through every game all the way to and including the last game on finals day.

Agree that we are a bowler short, also not convinced with some of Tendo's decisions regarding choice of bowler for key moments.

We can generally rely on Bops, Amir and Danny Lawrence to be economical but all the others look very vulnerable at times in this format.

Callum Taylor must be very cheesed off with not getting a look in,  especially ahead of Dixon who is never going to be given as much as 3 or 4 overs so is looking like a waste of a place in the team which could go to a young all rounder who
happens to be the best fielder in the squad.

Not sure how long Taylor is contracted for but I hope we don't lose him...

I almost get the feeling that they (RTD/CS) are picking Dixon to thumb their noses at the criticism of his playing ability. I suspect they think his pace might be useful especially on postage stamp-sized grounds like the ECG. Better to play another batsman as there are plenty of bowlers in the remainder of the team. Taylor has had plenty of exposure in the 2XI without doing much.

Would the fourth placed team be away to the top side in the North? If so the likelihood is if we scrape through we would be away to Halesshire.

I think I'd rather we finished fifth and save ourselves more pain.
